Participants will gain deeper insight into their own spiritual journeys as well as tools and resources to move through life’s challenges with grace and purpose. From the stories of Jonah in the belly of the whale or Persephone in the Underworld to Star Wars, The Matrix and Lord of the Rings, the journey to passionate, authentic living always includes a stop in wilderness places we'd rather not visit. But often the events in our lives don't give us a choice in the matter. And whether it's divorce, illness or any of life's darkest challenges, sometimes we're just pulled onto that path through the dark woods. In the morning part of this workshop, we’ll draw upon the writings of Joseph Campbell and Clarissa Pinkola Estes along with the wisdom stories of Psyche, Jesus, Inanna, Abraham, and others to explore the riches and guideposts buried in ancient stories. We’ll examine how these stories illustrate the ways in which the Sacred is leading us through a process of transformation that we can trust. We’ll also discuss the modern practices we can use to open up space in our lives to invite rich, spiritual experience and awakening. Then in the afternoon, Sheri will perform her music- and story-based presentation The Butterfly Dawns: Tracing Inanna’s Journey through Descent to Rebirth, followed by discussion. In this engaging program, Sheri uses the ancient Sumerian wisdom story of the Descent of Inanna as the backdrop for her own journey through the wilderness. Drawing on Jungian wisdom woven with her positive, uplifting music and personal experience, Sheri shows us that the story never ends in the darkness. And just like the caterpillar, if we are willing to see the process through, we will emerge as a beautiful butterfly into the light. Facilitator: Sheri Kling is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, long-time spiritual sojourner, inspirational speaker, president of her own record label and senior producer of the 2004 and 2006 Mythic Journeys conferences. She weaves together positive music and vivid stories to create uplifting concerts and workshops. Her website is www.sherikling.com. Saturday, April
